LOISABA BUSH CAMP IS BACK!

" The Phoenix has risen from the ashes," an email to friends, partners and fans of Loisaba Bush Camp announces. Like they are, I'm also delighted to hear and learn of the new Loisaba Bush Camp that comes even much better than the old. This comes after a recent bush fire that destroyed the camp.

Heli Safaris at Loisaba
Loisaba is set in Northern Laikipia, a private wilderness of over 60,000 acres there are activities for all - relax under the African night sky on the renowned Kiboko Star Beds, enjoy a private bush dinner looking over the great Ewaso Nyiro River or canter the plains and mix with game whilst on horse-back. With adventure around every corner, Loisaba's breath-taking views, deliciously fresh foods and private Africa are the key ingredients to the perfect time. The Flaura and Fauna is undoubtedly unimaginable. You can track lions; take guided walks through the bush; canter the plains on horseback amongst zebra and giraffe; enjoy river rafting & fishing, race on a quad bike and dance with the local Lakipia Maasai.

Accomodation
The authenticity and luxury of hospitality at Loisaba brings a stunning African feel and is characterized by Loisaba Lodge, The House or The Cottage,  Star Beds and the Loisaba Spa.

Loisaba Bush Camp will be open for all of 2014, excluding months of April, May & November. Loisaba Cottage will be operational from 1st April onwards.

SUSPECTED POACHERS KILLED IN LAIKIPIA

Kenya Police reservist from Ol Pejeta Conservancy shot two suspected poachers Wednesday Morning. The two, poachers escaping on a motorcycle registration number KMCH971H were cornered and killed at Matigari in Laikipia.

Angelus Kalulu the Laikipia County Commander urged members of the public to forward any information on poachers to police confirming an AK 47 rifle and four rounds of ammunition were recovered from the two.

This comes amidst increased efforts to cub poaching by major wildlife conservation stakeholders that have seen a drop to poaching incidences nationally. However, the Laikipia region has had several incidences with the latest before this one being last month where a poacher was shot dead and another escaped with bullet wound.  Source : Laikipia Online

Another Elephant was killed by Poachers Saturday evening in Laikipia. The Pregnant elephant's unborn calf also died. Information posted by Space for Giants stated that, "We are very sorry to post this picture of one of Laikipia's precious young cow elephants who was was found yesterday, having succumbed to gunshot injuries sustained during an attempted poaching incident last Saturday evening. Tragically she was heavily pregnant and her unborn calf who was due to be born any day now, also died. The Laikipia community policing initiative rapid response team & sniffer dogs arrived on the scene to track up the suspects at first light on Sunday morning but were unable to pick up any fresh scents.

The poachers and their backers remain at large.....While we are doing our very best to try and keep elephants secure in this part of the world, we need some help from those who could close the illegal markets in Asia, particulalry in China. In the meantime we will continue to work with the Kenya Wildlife Service, the police and our partners, Ol Pejeta, to bolster security for wildlife here. Sorry for sharing such shocking images but we feel Kenyans and the rest of world should know what is happening to our natural heritage to supply nonsensical trinkets to unsuspecting or poorly informed consumers in Asia."
