LAKE TURKANA FESTIVAL, LOIYANGALANI || 24 TO 26TH MAY 2013

The 6th Edition of the Lake Turkana Festival will take place in Loiyangalani. Loiyangalani means "a place of many trees" in the native Samburu tongue and is home to the El Molo, an almost extinct community. The festival is jointly organized by the German Embassy, the Local Community Festival Committee, National Museums of Kenya and Private Safaris (K) Ltd.
It will take place from 24 to 26 May 2013. The organizers have promised to make this year’s edition even more memorable as they will be celebrating and helping preserve the cultures of the El Molo, Samburu, Gabbra, Rendile, Watta, Dasannach, Pokot and the Turkana. Beyond the presentation of cultural dances and traditions of the participating communities, this year's festival will also focus on economic development.
