WILDEBEESTS' UNUSUAL COMEBACK TO MAASAI MARA

East or West home is best. Wonders of the Great Wildebeest Migration in Maasai Mara will not be seizing any time soon as for the first time, the boys and girls are making a comeback in the least time I expected. Two months ago, thousands of wildebeests left Maasai Mara for Serengeti as usual but have now returned thanks to a drought that has rocked several parts of Tanzania

Normally, The Great Wildebeest Migration spectacle starts in July when the animals cross Mara River to Maasai Mara National Reserve and ends in October when they return to Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park.

This comes as an early Christmas present for hoteliers in Mara and tour operators with hopes of having new bookings as tourists return to watch the spectacle again.

TANZANIA, THE LAND OF UNTOLD WONDER

With such a perfect Location, perched on the edge of the African continent, and facing the Indian Ocean, Tanzania’s weather and climate leaves nothing to be desired. Warm and sunny days are followed by cool and balmy nights, and whether you’re on safari on the plains or enjoying the tropical beaches of Zanzibar, the temperatures are always welcoming and gentle.
Sun-filled and beautiful days are not all that Tanzania has to offer. On the contrary, the country’s borders hold a vast number of people and tribes whose varied cultures and traditions make up the rich tapestry that is Tanzanian culture Read on to learn more about the Masaai culture and the customs of the Swahili Coast.
Although Tanzania is a country rich in culture and traditions, it’s history is also one of treasured heritage and pride. From the early days of mankind's history, man has called the land of Tanzania home - its verdant mountains, its scrubland plains.

Tanzanians enjoy a climate of freedom and peace in their daily lives, and value community and togetherness very highly. It is an expression of community and culture, and one that binds them all as citizens to their country and to the people around them. Religion defines their community and sense of identity, but culturally, their are all Tanzanians. Their culture and traditions can be seen in the everything they surround themselves with and the handicrafts that are the specialties of their country.

MAASAI MARA WILDEBEEST EXPERIENCE

Guest-Post by Clare || The Maasai Mara Wildebeest Migration is definitely one of the most unforgettable and remarkable wildlife attractions that make Kenya one of the best wildlife destinations worldwide.  Come July, August and October, tourist flock to the Maasai Mara, the most popular wildlife spot in Kenya, to catch the spectacular event, and why not! This natural occurrence has a lot to offer, the deep, primal rumbling sound of thundering hooves as well as low grunts is something that raises the nerves. The sight of the wildebeest migration is amazing, with an unbroken energetic mass that widens from one perspective to the other and the fact that they are joined by stripped black and white zebras gives the sight an outstanding feature.
There is no other place in the world where there is a movement of over a million-number of animals from one place to another apart from the Maasai Mara. The Maasai Mara wildebeest migration happens in the month of July all through to October. The wildebeest has to cross the Mara River in to the Maasai Mara in search of greener pastures. During the crossing of the river, the wildebeest have to overcome the wrath of hungry crocodiles that always are a beneficial lot during this migration. They have to wrestle with the crocodiles to for survival, which is the highlight of the event, but not all of them make it to the other end as the crocodiles overpowers them.  Even after crossing to Maasai Mara, they are still wanted by other larger carnivores like lion, but that is just a balance of the ecosystem.

The Maasai Mara wildebeest migration can be captured on the early morning game drives in customized vehicles, or a walking safari guided by Maasai warrior, or horseback safaris in areas surrounding the Maasai Mara or from hot air balloon safaris over the plains of the Maasai Mara.
