WILDEBEESTS' UNUSUAL COMEBACK TO MAASAI MARA

East or West home is best. Wonders of the Great Wildebeest Migration in Maasai Mara will not be seizing any time soon as for the first time, the boys and girls are making a comeback in the least time I expected. Two months ago, thousands of wildebeests left Maasai Mara for Serengeti as usual but have now returned thanks to a drought that has rocked several parts of Tanzania

Normally, The Great Wildebeest Migration spectacle starts in July when the animals cross Mara River to Maasai Mara National Reserve and ends in October when they return to Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park.

This comes as an early Christmas present for hoteliers in Mara and tour operators with hopes of having new bookings as tourists return to watch the spectacle again.

MAASAI MARA MARATHON 2013

Maasai Mara Marathon is held annually to raise money and awareness for conservation in the Mara ecosystem. Proceeds from the marathon go towards education, provision of clean water, healthcare, sanitation and conservation projects for communities living in the Mara.

Animals bring it on to the runners
Since its inception in the year 2009, it has shown tremendous growth in popularity and now has thousands of registered local and international participants unlike the few hundreds it started with. Unlike other Marathons ran in urban areas, here participants run in the wild pace by pace alongside zebras, gazelles and wildebeests.

This year, The Kenya Airways Masai Mara Marathon 2013 will takes place on Saturday 5th October 2013 at the Lemeck Conservancy, Masai Mara.

BALLOON SAFARIS IN KENYA

Balloon Safaris in Kenya is a fashionable safari flying over the Maasai Mara and the Tsavo National Parks. Gliding serenely above the trees offers unparalleled panoramic balloon views of the awe-inspiring landscape. The unique perspective gives a much truer and mind blowing sense of the huge expanses of bush.

This safari is a romantic and evocative way to experience the beauty of East Africa’s Wilderness as you fly above in absolute silence. The feeling is indescribable, watching the plains teeming with herds of wildlife. You will experience a wrap-around panorama of Africa and enjoy what some describe as the closest safari to heaven. You are in for a game-viewing adventure with an entirely different perspective on a one hour flight over the Masai Mara, the land of breathtaking scenery.
