Worldwide
readers of Air Cargo News, the cargo industry’s leading publication,
voted Kenya Airways top in service excellence, reliability and
sustainable performance in moving cargo to and from the busy and
increasingly competitive Africa region.
"Winning this
prestigious award and to be recognized directly by our customers is a
great honour and a powerful endorsement of our focus and dedication to
providing the highest levels of service,” said Mr. Dick Murianki,
General Manager KQ Cargo.
This is the second time that
Kenya Airways has won in the line-up of Cargo Airline of the Year
winners, which are listed in full in the next issue of Air Cargo News
and on air cargo news.net.
Speaking during the award
presentation at a lavish London ceremony, Air Cargo News Managing
Director and Editor Mr. Nigel Tomkins, noted that the growth of
intra-African commerce has contributed to increased competition for the
air transport services in Africa.
“In the emerging markets
of Africa, competition between rival players is becoming fierce and
this is driving up quality standards,” he said.
The
African continent is a key market for KQ Cargo and remains an area of
huge trading potential. With its continually growing network and fleet
expansion, KQ Cargo is set to offer enhanced levels of connectivity,
flexibility and reliability to its cargo customers across Africa.
Earlier
last year, KQ Cargo significantly boosted its cargo capacity with the
addition of one converted Boeing 737 aircraft, taking its freighter
fleet to 2 aircrafts.
The Air Cargo News Cargo
Airline of the Year event, now 30 years old, is the longest-established
and most cherished worldwide air cargo awards process of its kind and
always attracts huge interest. Readers of the globally-circulated
newspaper vote online for their best airline cargo service providers,
freight forwarders, GSAs, handling companies and airports.
